I hesitate to upgrade my vid drivers re; lack of space and/or an external hard drive to store all the shit taking up all our space on the computer.

Probably coulda got one over the holidays if I hadn't made an impulse buy for the Mo-In-Law at the ex next door neighbor's house.

He was in scrap mode, ya know, whadda we got layin' around that could be parlayed into cash at the junkyard- and I talked him out of dismantling an old Shopsmith. His Dad bought it for $50 a few years back, and he never used it ("sounded rough").

I would have been happier if he didn't see fit to store it outside for 2 months, but still.... M.O.L. does like her woodworking tools, and perhaps with a little TLC and a few bucks in repair parts Ye Olde 5-in-1 thingamajobby will breathe yet again!

The manuals are almost worth the purchase price by themselves. Regular Science Film #7 pictures & artwork. Ward Cleaver would feel right at home there.

Purchase price in 1954? $269.50

I'll bet Lumpy didn't pay that for his 1940 Willys or Ford (the "jalopy").

So, we'll see. Could be a total cluster. A nicer looking one on eBay for $300, but it's in NY.

Hope you all had a good New Years, and I hope the new year is better than the last. Badgers loss tempered by WV win.

How 'bout that Flynn guy? And I don't mean Errol!

just update the flash player if you need to. that doesn't take up any space. If you need more free space just go buy one of those little hot swappable USB flash drive things for $7-10 at K-Mart or the drug store. You can store 2-4-8 Gigs on those things. Can store your whole operating system on one. Move all you photos and MP3s or whatever to one and free up space on the computer. Plus you're saving stuff (like photos) that won't be lost if your computer croaks.

Shopsmith for $50. Even if it was left outside for a little while that's a good deal. What's the MOL doing, making furniture?
