Yeah, It finally dawned on me that putting some distance between the top of the page and the porn dog photo would prolly be a good idea. Sorry bout not doing it faster. Not like we have a lot of visitors stopping by around here so sometimes I forget I got an old styrofoam cup of worms in the fridge and leave my dirty socks laying around on the kitchen counter next to the slice of pie with the fuzzy green frosting longer than I should.

looks like you may be getting some rain.

the farmer said...

Yes. Can use it. But have been getting rain for the last couple weeks. Unfortunately it brought the late blight with it. First, no rain at all. Next, evil fungi spore rain. Just can't win this year. Although the peppers are doing great. And the pear tree too, is loaded with pears.

I'm having my Sunday morning coffee in a classic "calm before the storm" atmosphere. If only it could stay just as it is. But Irene is on her way.

At least you have beans. I have a few but mostly they just never recovered from the heat and lack of rain. And ya just can't beat the blight and mildew unless you buy a hazmat suit and dose em with scary commercial fungicides. And even that is no guarantee. Its depressing, especially for organic growing. But the peppers look great - lots of them and they are doing just fine except that the deer have been eating leaves and buds off the tops of the plants. If its not one thing its another. So I've been hoop housing some of them with plastic netting. Looks like that should be a permanent feature. Plus I hung a transistor radio among em tuned to the most obnoxious 24 hour station i could find (which wasn't difficult to find). Didn't plant carrots but planted parsnips and salsify and that looks pretty good so far. I'll probably let some of that overwinter. And the upside of not much rain meant the flowers looked great. The same reason they always look great in a greenhouse (they don't get rained on).

So ya win some ya lose some. You rarely get to throw a no hitter and major league baseball teams never have undefeated seasons but eventually someone wins a pennant and a world series. The way I look at it.

but will she drown any teabag governor?

Maybe wash Christy up on the golf course in Bayonne. Like a fat sack of wet leaves.

It would take a Category 5 to move Christy.

i thought he was dropping around NJ.

I think it could depend alot on the strenght of the storm surge. A strong cat 3 with strong storm surge might just be enough to move him around some. Might even be able to fling him up into Jamacia Bay if conditions are favorable enough. Would depend wind direction and how much gold jewelry he might be wearing at the time and other key factors like that.

Remember Agnes back in 1972? Dumped 15-20 inches of rain in parts of PA around Reading, Hazelton and Wilkes-Barre areas.
