she was a really good doggy. loved the snow. not so much when the snow melted though. the only lab i ever knew that really really didn't like going in the water.

Staying out of pools, ponds & water sprinklers helps to cut down on canine swimmer's ear, I'll bet.

All I have are mental pictures of our last dog running around like a maniac when we moved from the city to the old haunted farmhouse.

The best was her running up the snowplow/drift area at the top of the backyard, and crashing nose-first through the crest.

Like a 4WD truck commercial, only for mutts.

dogs just want to have fun.

that could have been it with the ears. she didn't like the hose either so trying to give her a bath was like wrestling with an ablutophobic harbor seal. have 4 other labradorian relatives and they all love the water (and the snow). and i also miss those big roadside snowplow waves. haven't seen those in a long time. i was hoping for something like the 30" of snow that fell in parts of Mass yesterday.

BTW: Pansy, did you see this:

Denmark, the happiest people in the world! Must be all those kringles they eat.

This was a top of the yard, top of the driveway plateau as it were, and the wind would just do amazing things wrapping around the house and the silo.

Like no snow on the lawn or under the cars, but 3' drifts around the front door and BETWEEN the cars.

I remembered (that I forgot, eh?) that we have somewhere a nice grainy instamatic photo of the estwhile hound sitting in the back seat of Ye Olde 1984 Audi 5000 Turbo.

I made the mistake of leaving the back window down maybe 8 inches; clearly visible in the pic are her sneery, self-contented, tongue-out smile, and the CHAIN running into said window.

I liked it when it ran. And I'm sure many a Japanese 4-door, nay!, a 3.8 liter GM could have put it to shame. But woe be unto you if you're the stupid bastard in the Jetta that tries to merge your rear bumper into my lap by divine right of your sacred turn signal.

Where's a cop when you need one? Heh. Kids and their ride home from bachelor laundromat across from the bar after work nights!

the nanny state pacifies. i did sense that while there. very happy sheeple.

bachelor laundromat

Sounds like one of those movies from the early 80's co-starring Tawny Kitaen.

And oh yeah, those circa 1984 Audi 5000's... they went through the same mystery acceleration scandal that Toyota went through recently. (ZOMG! danger car theater stage managed by boardroom lawyers and corporate weasels.)

maybe they should make pedals of RATIONAL sizes again.
