Got the lawn vac running just in time to pack it once and wake up to rain.

At least that will cut down on the dust.

radiators cut down on dust. cats add it tho.

Cats add more than dust around here, pansy. A few ain't a bad thing, but get someone soft-hearted and you're halfway to another Crazy Cat Lady house of horrors.

Do you think old Mo-In-Law would hold it against me if I turned her in to Animal Control?

I'm not sure if I have it in me to start making sure they're all "good kitties" by process of elimination. I might have to spring for the motion/stench activated camera first.

Then old pjk could be judge, jury, and outplacement technician all rolled into one.

Have a nice NEXT life.

in this economy, be nice to kitties.

Whatever for, pansy? Do they make fer good eatin' in lieu of groceries, when the bottom drops out?

I used to give everyone the benefit of the doubt when I was younger. That led to finding out the hard way that Human Nature is alive & Well, be it good or bad.

Imagine a few dozen kitties with sometime access to your living quarters- and the more-than-occasional pile or puddle that accompanies them.

The "accident" was letting them in, to begin with. They're like Taggers without spray paint. And they do a fine job of converting what should be spare cash into waste products.

Some people give everyone a bad rap, be it race, gender or species-based. Not me- but like Dirty Harry said, "a man's got to know his limitations".

Mine would be finding a juicy cat turd on the carpet, or in a towel that got used as a bath mat.

Pity the Kitty I catch in the act.

[snip] Wisconsin man allegedly shoots TV after watching Bristol Palin on 'Dancing With the Stars'

Richard M. Daley

November 17, 2010

A rural Wisconsin man is accused of shooting his TV with a shotgun and sparking an all-night standoff with police after watching Bristol Palin perform Monday on "Dancing With the Stars." Prosecutors say Steven Cowan of Vermont, Wis., about 20 miles northwest of Madison, did not think Palin was a good dancer, so he shot the TV and pointed the gun at his wife before she escaped, according to a criminal complaint. SWAT team members talked Cowan, 67, out of the home early Tuesday, and Palin advanced to the "DWTS" finals later that night. [/snip]

Please don't give Bob Somerby any ideas.

My sister and nephew found a pile of dead cats (10 or twelve) - what was left of them - the other day down by the creek. I think coyotes got em and brought them to the place where they found them. Dunno where they came from since nobody I know in that immediate area has cats - except that there is a dairy farm across the creek so maybe they came from there - and the guy who lets me use his land to grow corn on last summer had a family of feral cats show up in one of his sheds. He wasn't happy about it at all. I took a look at em one day in the spring and sure nuff there was a whole snarling litter of em in there. God (and maybe the coyotes) only knows what became of em. The last several years the coyote population has kinda exploded. They're all over the place. My brother showed me some pictures of what they did to a wounded buck a couple of nights ago... there was nothing left of the buck except the head which my brother pulled out of a bag and dropped on floor to emphasize the point.

The bears too. I went to the dollar store yesterday (i bought a spatula and an extension cord and a plastic compatmetalized cheese/dip tray which I use for a paint palette) and the women in line ahead of me was telling the cashier girl about a bear who broke into someones place and got into a fight with a refrigerator. Which made me laugh because about two months ago the bears held a picnic (and a big shitting party) in the woods only about 2 or 3 hundred yards from where I'm writing this now (they raided the garbage cans of a neighbor and dragged their loot into the woods near me). I also ran into a big fat porcupine crossing the road about a month ago and I haven't seen a big fat porcupine in years.

cats will be good warm if your heat goes.

nature is getting used to us.

I think a big part of it around where I am is the regrowth of trees and cover in areas that were once dairy farm cow pastures, open fields, corn fields... giving more cover to animals like bear and coyote etc. Plus, dogs don't run around loose anymore.

no suburb sprouts?

same up north WI. lot more bears and a cougar sighting confirmed.

You can definitely hear the coyotes at night in this area, making certain that everyone knows their particular standing in the pack.

Deer, wild turkey, red tailed hawks, turkey vultures, sand cranes, herons, egrets, and of course them varmints all seem to be doing pretty well these days.

Can't a guy use a television rating system other than Nielson without getting into trouble? Like Miller, Winchester, and Phillip Morris.

I only find fault with this type of behavior if he took out a flat panel, and I'd give him a pass if it was an old plasma screen.

Maybe just a flashback to them good-'ol Duck Hunt bar games?

no suburb sprouts?

no, none of that. the burb sprouts invasion seems to have pretty much stopped sprouting back in the late 70s around here. And the worst of that thankfully wasn't near where i am.

There was something of a mcmansion explosion for a while after all those old dairy farms went under and were sold off in big chunks 30,50,100+ acres at a time and bought up in a lot of cases by lawyers and doctors and people like that with a lot of $$$. Mixed blessings with all that as some just built big ugly ridiculous looking monstrosities where things like that don't belong but others actually restored the old farms that would otherwise have just gone to seed. And some of the new homes aren't even visible from the road. They're built way back on the property and you'd never even know they were there if you were just passing through. Helped some of the rural schools too because of the infusion of revenue into otherwise poor rural districts.

The real threat now is the gas fracking scum. Not only will that destroy the land, water and peace and quiet but also destroy property values.

What PJK said.

Someone i know said she saw a moose the other day crossing the river road. i didn't believe her at first - figured she saw a horse or something - but then i found out that there are a quite a few instances in recent years of moose wandering into the area. i've never seen one but apparently its not all that unusual.

and then theres the farm raised geese that don't migrate and are everywhere. apparently only wild gesse migrate (apparently its a learned thing) and unless the farm raised geese learn to migrate from the wild ones they won't go away in the winter.

I'm afraid to look out my front door. There are probably three deer out there right now molesting whats left of the rhododendron and eating the face out of the goddamned holloween pumpkin.

Ya know what though, fuck this bullshit digital TV crap. The fucking shit stops working all the time... starts pixelating or whatever it is and siezes up all the time - give me back the old anolog tv signal. And i don't think the digital picture is any better... I think its all just a big technology sales and marketing scam. Like when they tried to tell us that CDs were better than tape. And fuck cellphones too! I've never had a cellphone... but fuck them stoopid ass things anyway. And i really mean it. I'm really tired of all this useless new techno-junk that is actually crappier than the old junk it replaces.
