I tried a cat once. But one morning I found a little note stuck to the bottom of the refrigerator that read: "situation too horrible to describe. there are too many of them. i am leaving now." and it was signed "the cat". I'm not even sure if the cat really wrote it.
Looks like a rusty strainer that got moved in a box of various basement stuff when we cleared out of the old farmhouse. In betweenst the cobwebs was a bat mummy.
Too bad; I actually liked the little (and sometimes not so little) guys.
One more pre-Winter oil change to do, and a ton of stuff I'll wish I hadn't put off after the weather turns to crap.
Last week's little non-budgeted item was dealing with the '05 LeSabre telling the wife she had no oil pressure. She turned it around from a block away, and it had oil, and wasn't making horrible noises. Oil changed 1000 miles previous.
After replacing the factory Hecho en Mexico sensor with another aftermarket version of the same nationality for $43, all is back to normal.
I can see why Mitt & the boys @ Bain need to move Sensata to China, because you just can't make any money producing a product in this country.
How's that work with the "Believe in America" yard signs that litter our 'hood?
Same week, a guy at work needed to replace his sticky front caliper on a late '80s Mustang. Without the core charge, the rebuilt one set him back $15.
That sounds a lot more like the "new normal" pricing, but I realize it has a lot to do with volume of units produced. However....
any bets on the same sensor being used on millions more GM cars than left or right brake calipers ever made for the 'stang with that part number?
Lastly, our state has decided that the best way to handle the every 2 year emission testing for the unlucky 5 counties north of the Chi-Town breeze could be best handled by independent repair shops. So, ya get a "Fail", and the first question is related to repair costs that will result in a "Pass".
Oh, well, we'd need to charge you at least an hour at $85 to start diagnosing the problem. Then, we can talk.
A situation ripe for abuse? Can I get little yellow stars for my clothing, that show I live in the 5-county emission test/Brewer stadium tax zone?
I'm hoping a week or so from now we can celebrate Mittless Monday. Cue up the Bangles.
Have to go through the safety/emissions inspections every 12 months here. You get it done at dealers or independents. I've never had any problems with abuse. and you aren't required to have the repairs done by the same shop that does the inspection. but i take to a local shop thats been fixing the cars and trucks in my family for years. if its something stupid you can fix yourself you can do that and bring it back and they'll check it and give you your pass sticker.
So whats going to happen tomorrow (today), in between hurricanes and nor'easters and blizzards. Anyone for a landslide?
I would like to see something definitive, with no waiting to see whose early absentee votes get counted etc.
I see Gov. Christie was allowing email and/or fax voting. Like I've said previously, if you can efile taxes, why not a vote, complete with a confirmation if all is correct?
I don't even want to see all the exit polling suggests or better yet Faux deciding who O's gonna blame should all go South-type-coverage.
A drug-induced coma between Tues. PM and Gawd Knows When might be in order. I just hope I don't require a 4 to 8 year-long version.
The Dems are like the Packers. Sometimes disappointing, playing below their potential, or just plain fucked over by the officiating. But I won't bet against either.
We DO need a viable 3rd Party (at least) in this country, but not some Uber-Norquist Astroturf front for the "Greed is Good" boys.
Won't happen without a return to public-only campaign funding. And people calling Bullshit what it is might help, too.
All in all, not a bad night. I didn't see Kantor, so I'm guessing he bought his chair back.
The Elephant sure brought in the redneck vote, but lost to EVERY other voting bloc.
With perhaps the Matlock bloc as an exception.
I like to think the definitive difference between win or loss was the voting for vs. against one of 2 candidates, because only one was Prez. material.
Sort of a "here's to you, and here's to me-
and should we ever disagree, then Fuck You!- and, here's to me!"
Bring on the loose interpretation of the so-called Patriot Act in order to incarcerate defeatist obstructionists of the will of the People. I needs me some show trials to offset overexposure to Issa.
apparently the wingnuts actually believe all the crazy lies they tell. all this time i thought they were thinking they were fooling us but they were really just fooling themselves. while we were listening to them do it. And all that blather about a Romney landslide probably helped bring out even more people to the polls in support of Obama.
And I'd bet that Chris Christie and Rick Santorum and Jeb Bush and a few others voted for Obama too.
And that dood that looks like Pauly Shore... what's his name? ... Rand Paul! Ya gotta believe that that ninny was reserving a booth at some Cracker Barrel in Iowa the minute Cleveland drop-kicked Mittens into Lake Erie.
yup, have to make em from fresh lemons. i think i'll make one for the Thanksgiving dinner weirdness this year since its almost time to clean the mouse turds out of bottom of the Nesco.
