Nice to take in a panoramic view that isn't littered with things that need to be worked on, thrown out, or sent to the scrapyard.
2 weeks to BloatFest.
If I can get the trans pan to stop leaking on the Mo-in-Law's Ranger soon, that'd give me a couple weekends to clean up the house and prepare for the Big Chill.
She should be able to finish blowing it up by T-Day while still retaining all the fluid, I'm guessing.
Body, good. Frame, a ferrous equivalent to Swiss cheese, or the pastry component of a cream puff.
Be nice to find the half we need.
Not super-familiar with auto trans fluid, but MAN, does Mercon V smell like ass AND irrepairably stain your clothing. Makes manual gear lube smell like Old Spice or English Leather.
Once more into the breach this weekend. Hope we hit the 50s. And the 3rd time's the charm.
Yup, fall. A little late but i too a bunch of pictures one day and never got to posting any till now.

Yeah, that pond is on the edge of state wildlife management area so its free of junk. Not so much a mile and a half down the road but even then its not too bad in this particular area. Probably because a lot of the land is state forest/game refuge. One of the old civilian conservation corp trails is nearby. More about the area at www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/70693.html
I was reaquainting myself with mechanical bodily fluids last week when the wood splitter started gurgling up hydraulic fluid through the old filter. I couldn't move it so I had to jab a screwdriver through it and twist it off but all i did was rip the filter into tin shreds and peel it from its top metal gasket. So then I had to fuck around with that till I got that to spin off. Spend half a day trying to find a suitable replacement filter, drain and replace the hydraulic fluid which cost another $40, and clean up all the greasy old shit that got all over everything. Wasn't really as bad as it seemed at the time but was pretty annoying. Guess thats what i get for not changing the filter for six years. At least the warm weather was still around. I hate doing shit like that when its cold so I wish ya all the best with the trans pan as it warms up for a couple days. What is it, leaking pan, loose bolts, something worse? Bad frame doesn't sound good - like a crumbling civilization - one disintegrating thing leads to another.
longing for the push mower revolution
Not me. If I want to induce a heart attack I'll go back to buying 8 balls and chasing waitresses (if ya have to kill yerself pushing something it might as well be the limits, right) I've also thought about turning my front lawn into a cornfiled. Growing corn right on up to the front porch steps. No more mower! I think its an awesome idea but since i'm more or less basically managing a family heirloom here my avant-gardening idea in this case has never really been allowed to initiate a manifest revolution. Sadly, I'm shackled to tradition.
wasn't much to see here either. was nice in patches but most of the leaves stayed green then just faded off. maybe because there never was a hard freeze of killer frost early on.
Yeah, a rainy autumn is part of it because the trees need sunny but cool days and nights to get the brightest colors. If its raining a lot they don't get the bright light they need. The green chlorophyll begins breaking down in the Fall (as the tree slows it feeding) due to the cool temps and shorter hours of sunlight and that causes the different colors to appear. So, a combination of warmer weather and rainy cloudy days will combine to dull the foliage color. Or somethin' like that.
