sorry about the lack of posting.

have to cut a lot of firewood this year because i didn't get to cut much last year (mainly because of the flooding last sept. which washed out parts of the road).

some tomatoes and a weird little pumpkin. tomatoes did good this year except for the romas. didn't get one single tomato. never had that happen before. kinda spooky. still have peppers to pick and some garlic to plant.

i would if i could pjk. as wet as its been lately there'd probably be nothing left but big clumps of mold by the time it got to ya.

how big is the stove? Its a heritage hearthstone stove. this thing here:

my aunt + uncle have one like that, uncle builds a nice fire + just lets it go and it is warm til bedtime. but i gota say, my heart belongs to the old green monarch that used to be the heart of the cottage. just saw a similar wood/ELECTRIC version. later, not as handy as the early 1900's wood/GAS version grandpa had. memories of him clearly yesterday's ashes to start all over.

yup, those old monarch stoves are nice. i'd think you would still be able to find more than a few still surviving especially around milwaukee. waterford stanley, elmira stove works and heartland make some nice old timey ones too. wood and duel fuel (dual fuel being gas and electric). The obadiah pioneer wood cookstove is really nice too. but a wood cookstove is too much work unless you're really into working off the grid. hard enough just feeding a wood heater stove. especially considering all the bloddy time and money and aggravation invested in chainsaws and log splitters and pickup trucks and so on.

well, i still loved cooking on the wood stove. and since we were a pyromaniac family, playing with fire was a plus. plus i only brought wood to the stove.

do you get the Lehman's (amish supplies) catalog? they sell the old timey wood stoves and all kinds of other stuff like that.

no. i have found some wood stoves at estate sales. oe a big victorian behemoth, was still being used by the elderly woman who lived in the basement w/ it in cudahy.

no big bag of imperfect macs.

no, but you can probably find a couple scruffy amish kids smuggling mp3 players out behind the blue seal silo.
