seems to be mostly alive. big enough support the hollow hidey holes.
i noticed today that some of my sweet corn looks like that weird ear you found. it looks like the cob stopped growing (due to drought probably) and then started again at some point but couldn't keep up and never developed any kernels on the new growth.

that's what i figured major stunted. tasted fine.
a tree in shebogan and others have been filled w/ cement. tree lives.
