Green Bay Packers back union bargaining rights
Present and former members of the Green Bay Packers, all members of the National Football League Players Association, have signed a letter in support of the AFL-CIO's efforts to derail Gov. Scott Walker's plan to cut some union bargaining rights.

[...]

The statements reads: "We know that it is teamwork on and off the field that makes the Packers and Wisconsin great. As a publicly owned team we wouldn't have been able to win the Super Bowl without the support of our fans.

"It is the same dedication of our public workers every day that makes Wisconsin run. They are the teachers, nurses and child care workers who take care of us and our families. But now in an unprecedented political attack Governor Walker is trying to take away their right to have a voice and bargain at work.

The NFLPA also released a statement in support of the AFL-CIO. "The NFL Players Association will always support efforts protecting a worker's right to join a union and collectively bargain. Today, the NFLPA stands in solidarity with its organized labor brothers and sisters in Wisconsin," the statement said.

mike- I don't think Obama gets involved with what majority Republican legislatures inflict upon their populations at the state level.

I'll be shocked if he pulls a G-Dub and temporarily suspends Taft-Hartley or somethin' else in order that an emergency may cause Republicans to suspend the law.

Last weekend cable media had a poll with CPACkers listing the honorable Gov. Christie at the top of their wish list of nutjob presidential candidates for 2012.

Backhanded slaps all around when some single-issue God n' Country voter says "Who Knew?" how their tax cut fervor might affect 99.5% of the state, negatively.

and the president?

From this morning's (Friday) WaPo:
[snip] MADISON, WIS. - President Obama thrust himself and his political operation this week into Wisconsin's broiling budget battle, mobilizing opposition Thursday to a Republican bill that would curb public-worker benefits while planning similar action in other state capitals.

Obama accused Scott Walker, the state's new Republican governor, of unleashing an "assault" on unions in pushing emergency legislation that would nullify collective-bargaining agreements that affect most public employees, including teachers.

The president's political machine worked in close coordination Thursday with state and national union officials to mobilize thousands of protesters to gather in Madison and to plan similar demonstrations in other state capitals. [/snip]

Where's Dreamy Dennis? Still picketing the House cafeteria?

Dreamy Dennis has a throbbing toothache. Give the man a break. Haven't heard much from Feingold, either. He's probably just being ignored by the press.

Feingold was in Madison speaking at the rally on Friday. Saw him on cnn or msnbc a couple of times too but couldn't find any Kucinich sightings even on the google - or any comment on his house gov webpage. Figured he'd have something to say about ohio at least...

maybe he is having some bridgework done. personal infrastructure maintenance is important too.
