this reminds me a lot of a band my friends had going 25 years ago, called EIEIO. And that's a good thing.

Pansy might remember EIEIO. She probably thought about calling the police on em. :-)

i'd like to get something off my chest: and admit that if i had to decide between replacing some engine parts in Dick Cheney and replacing some engine parts on my old lawn mower... I'd go with the lawn mower. And if that makes me a worse person than i already am i can live with it. But I can't live without my lawn mower. At least not the kind of quality of life I'm accustomed to.

the lawnmower has use.

hey, i think we could spare some rain and wouldn't mind you getting some. i think we had 3" or more last night. but not flooding yet. wisconsin used to be a big swamp. damned humid tho.

what do you do with potatoes? the ones we planted came up. now what?

i noticed all that rain you were getting last night on the radar. looks like it pissed itself out on its way east though. need the rain here. potatoes should be hilled up as they grow. as they grow taller keep hilling the loose dirt humus mix up over the new leaf growth - leaving 3-4 inches of new leaves above the dirt. can use straw too. trouble is it can take a lot of dirt/humus'straw etc to do this so if you don't have any extra hilling material you can just let em be until the fall when you dig em up. one way to grow potatoes in a small space is to grow them in a container (like a plastic garbage can - just keep adding to the can as the potatoe leaves grow up throught he mix). and, potatoes like loose acidic soil mix so mixing stuff like peat moss with any top soil will help increase the acidity.

ok, hill and compost can be done. kinda close to onions tho.. and the beans. but can do modest hilling.

we got 4". i guess the corn around here is huge already.

my cherry toms are starting to turn color. only 3 so far, but in the nip patch. gotta ebay it and harvest the nip.

need to upgrade my chicken wire for next year. effing rabbits.

could put a barrier around the potato area maybe? like some chicken wire or hardware cloth which would keep whatever you use to cover over the potatoes from running away into the beans and onions?

corn around here is huge already.

would think so with all the rain you are getting this year. i planted three different kinds of sweet corn and is ok so far (by the knee high by the fourth of july rule) but this dry spell is worrying me now. that front that gave you all that rain the other night passed through today without a drop.

shame america has a corn industrial complex too.

chicken wire busy saving my pole beans. right now the taters look better than the onions.
